Yle, the Finnish Broadcasting Company

Information, education or entertainment, depending on who is interested – is a public service. Yle is a media company owned by Finns and Yle has soon had the same mission for 100 years: to inform, educate and entertain.

The role of Yle and other European broadcasters is to strengthen democracy and culture and to promote equality and cohesion. Public service supports people as actors in their own lives and in society.

Broadcasting also safeguards the pluralism of communications in various ways. Yle is the only media company to have a comprehensive delivery network across Finland. We make the whole of Finland visible and ensure that even sparsely populated areas have a diverse media offer.
