WHERE TO STAY?

We do not offer any hotel deals but we can highly recommend the following hotels. Both are very good quality and just a stone’s throw away from the main conference venue.

HOTEL KATAJANOKKA

SCANDIC GRAND MARINA

Hotel Katajanokka is a privately owned lifestyle hotel, renovated with loving care into the historic premises of former Helsinki county prison. Inside the red brick walls you will find a magic world of contrasts – with serene comfort, stylish design and a hint of Nordic luxury.

Close to Helsinki city centre, the hotel is located by the sea in the idyllic Katajanokka district next to the SkyWheel Helsinki, Allas Sea Pool, Uspenski Cathedral and the Market Square. The hotel is in a prime location perfect for visiting the city’s sights, going shopping, or enjoying the city’s restaurants and nightlife.

HOW TO GET THERE?

The airport is connected to the Helsinki main railway station by local trains I and P. The journey takes around 35 minutes, and trains leave every 10 minutes in the daytime. The ticket fare (zones ABC) is 4,60 € and should be bought from a machine at the airport (train platform level). You can also buy it via the  application of Helsinki Region Transport authority (HSL). More information on the airport connections

From the city center/main railway station to Wanha Satama it takes around 10 minutes, with trams 4 or 5. If traveling directly from the airport the train ticket is valid for transfer, otherwise tickets can be purchased from the ticket machines or any R-Kioski (note: tickets can NOT be purchased onboard). For more details, see the tram route map and consult the route planning app.

The conference venue is about 1,8 km away from the main railway station and it makes a nice walk in the historic part of the city.

CITY BIKES – THE BEST WAY TO GET AROUND TOWN

Yellow city bikes have been rolling on the streets of Helsinki since May 2016. The aim of the city bike system is to encourage everyday cycling. To use city bikes, register as a user at hsl.fi/citybikes.

The first time you use a city bike, you need to enter a seven-digit code you get when you register as well as a four-digit PIN code and show your Travel Card. After this, you can borrow a bike simply by showing your Travel Card and entering your PIN code.

For more information on public transportation in Helsinki region, please visit the HSL website.

A taxi from the airport to the conference venue would take about 40 minutes and costs around 50€.
