Tim Speelman is Policy Officer on Digital Identity for the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations in the Netherlands. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design Engineering and a Master’s degree in Computer Science. At the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, he wrote a thesis on proving power over legal entities using Self-Sovereign Identity. He is inspired by the ideals of the Self-Sovereign Identity movement and intrigued both by its potential and its complexity. At the same time, he is wary of its unintended consequences. Next to his policy profession, he builds web applications. Tim is currently working on the e-IDAS revision and the introduction of European Digital Identity Wallets.
